Mellanströmmen (Skärblacka)
Mellanströmmen in Skärblacka is a place all anglers from Östergötland should visit. Although it is not the greatest stream and is a "put and take" river, fishing can be quite good and you get some good practice before bigger adventures. Rainbows and browns are abundant in this stream, and are always located in a few select pools throughout the stream.
There is always a good hatch of sulphurs and various caddis, even lots of small fish that the planted trout can feed on. However, many people take home these fish sadly, while I believe they should leave them (as they taste like liver anyways).
Tips:
During lunch, between around 12-1 the dam is open to let out more water. During this time, get away from the stream. Several anglers have been caught out on points, across the stream, etc. This is why no wading is allowed. About 15 minutes or so after the water drops, fishing will get better again.
